Action
Similac Isomil is a cow's milk-free, lactose-free, soy-based formula that is specially designed for babies from birth to 12 months.
Breast milk is best for infants and is recommended for as long as possible during infancy. If breast milk is not adapted, Similac Isomil is formulated for infant from birth to 12 months of age. Consult the physician or healthcare professional before deciding to use Similac Isomil.
Indications/Uses
For special feeding needs eg, refeeding during diarrhea; cow's milk allergy (symptoms may include skin rash, stuffy and congested nose/chest, loose stools, spitting up, irritability, colicky, bloatedness, excessive crying and vomiting); lactose intolerance (some children cannot digest lactose and develop signs of lactose intolerance eg, bloatedness and loose stools).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Direction for Preparation: Thoroughly wash feeding bottle, teat, cap, and all utensils. Boil them for 5 min. Boil enough water to prepare 1 feeding and allow it to cool. Pour correct amount of warm, previously boiled water into bottle. Fill 1 level scoop of Similac Isomil to 30 mL of water in bottle. Mix until completely dissolved. Shake well, test temperature and feed.
Warnings
Never use a microwave oven to warm formula. Serious burns can result.
Special Precautions
If >1 feeding was prepared, it must be refrigerated and used within 24 hrs. Improper preparation could cause illness.
Storage
Cover opened tin and store in a cool, dry area (not in refrigerator). Once this tin is opened, contents should be used within 3 weeks. Store unopened tins at room temperature, avoid extreme temperature. Discard any unused formula.
